November 2019 - A month of great events.
With the end of the semester coming up, we've put on some great events and made some great content.
We kicked off the month covering some great events on campus, covering Leeds University Union's BAME creative week and ShockSoc's Robot Fighting league, check out the full stream here.
With a General Election coming up in December, we've been covering everything political going on in Leeds: speaking to some of the candidates who are running in Leeds and, in collaboration with LSR, putting on #QuizTheCandidates, a hustings for the candidates standing in Leeds Central and Leeds North West. It was a brilliant event and it was great for students to get the chance to ask questions to the candidates running to be their MP. It was also covered by local news outlet LeedsLive. You can check out their article here.
We also got the chance to speak to some to great musicians this month, chatting to metal band Sleeping With Sirens along with Plested and Larkins.
The last weekend of the month was our second annual Alumni Weekend. We invited some of our old members back to do some panels and give industry advice to our current members. It was a great time and really nice to catch up with some old friends.
This month we have also teamed up with The Gryphon and Leeds Student Radio to do Movember. Some of our members have been growing some questionable moustaches to raise awareness and money for men's mental health issues. It's for a really great cause so if you can spare any money you can donate here.
If you want to get involved in the society, join our members' page to keep updated with everything that's going on here.
Things to look out for in December:
- 4th December: We've teamed up with LSR and The Gryphon to put on 'Media On Your Terms'; it will feature three panels from a variety of industry experts and alumni with discussions on gender, race and sexuality and how this has affected the panellists’ experiences in the media.
- 4th December: Come along to one of our best socials of the year, the annual LSTV Christmas meal.
- 6th December - We'll be going live with the LSTV Live Christmas Special.
- 12th December: Watch our live 2019 General Election coverage. We'll be broadcasting live from 10pm - 8am, bringing local coverage as the results come in over the night.
