LSTV Blog #3 - October 2019

Catching all of the action at Varsity 2019.

October 2019 - Kicking off the semester with a bang!

Now that Freshers' Week has been and gone its time to get down to some serious business (sometimes) in LSTV-Land...

Starting off the month we had the biggest sporting event in the university calendar, Leeds Varsity 2019! While unfortunately it wasn't a great result for the University of Leeds, we still had an amazing time covering all of the matches on the day, and putting together the classic LSTV Varsity montage. We also got the chance to go to Headingley Stadium to broadcast the Rugby Finale live to LUU. The Women's Rugby Union team played in the stadium for the first time, scoring a great win. While the Men's team at least managed to make it a bit closer this year...

The first Live Show of the year.

October also meant the return of LSTV Live! The new members took over the show, producing all of the segments. The show was an absolute blast, with Alex and Alice attempting to dye their hair blue to varying degrees of success. Catch the whole show on our Facebook page.

We also put on a LSTV Live Halloween special, with suitable amounts of spooks and questionable costume choices.

Alice, Harry and Salim enjoying a friendly spot of Dodgeball.

The short film competition made its return as well; it was great to see so many people involved with this. Congrats to the winning team of Rachel, Lia, Lila and Franks, with their action adventure short film.

On the subject of old classics, 'Society Swap' will also be returning to your screens shortly. We headed down to the Edge to try out Dodgeball. A sport which as it turns out, much to our presenter's surprise, is very aggressive.

Episode 1 of 'Spilling the Tea'

As well as this a bunch of whole new shows have been put into production, such as 'Spilling the Tea', a brand-new tea based talk show and 'Gin It To Win It' a cocktail making game show.

It was a hugely successful time for LSTV at the NaSTA people's choice awards with Ejiro picking up a win for 'Best Dramatic Performance', along with 3 highly commended. India for 'Best On-Screen', 'Dad Joke Syndrome' for 'Best Open' and 'Out There' for 'Visual Creativity and Quality'.
